We would like to translate eBuddy into many different languages so everyone can use eBuddy in their own language. Hopefully you can help us out! We have created this eBuddy Wiki with an English template for the website, the mobile and the web application. You can fill in the blank cells and/or improve current translations. If you have contributed to a translation please add your name to the contributors list so we know who to thank!

Dear Translation Team,

Great work everyone! You have once again done a great job and updated 11(!) languages to 100%. This means that every new eBuddy feature is translated into your own language such as the Webcam feature on the Web Messenger.

Also, as you have already noticed, eBuddy has released a new mobile version: eBuddy for Android. This is a version that you can use on your T-Mobile G1 or HTC Magic and are the latest Internet phones originally made by Google. Please check it out on the eBuddy Blog.

This is only been made possible by you so thanks a million!!!!

I also want to thank you guys for continuously checking and improving already made translations. This task is very important because it makes your language much more attractive for all!

Some languages are very close to being 100% complete so I would like to ask you to put some extra work in the following languages so you can use all new features in your own language…

Dear Team,

The Translation community is growing rapidly and translations are being done faster than ever. This means two matters have changed:

Firstly, we are supporting more and more languages! We have now added 3 new languages:

Pashto, spoken in Afghanistan and Pakistan by over 40 million people,

Catalan, spoken in Spain, Italy, France and Andorra by some 10 million people, and

Papiamento, spoken in the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba by over 400k people.

Secondly, the Wiki was divided in three sections: Web (site), Mobile, and Messenger. Since there was just too much data in the three sections there were some problems. Sometimes the status showed 100% while the language was not complete yet. This clearly caused confusion so we have now added two extra sections: iPhone and Android. As you can imagine, these two Mobile applications will be released soon and are going to look amazing!!

Hereby, I would like to ask you to please help translating the applications, and especially Android and iPhone into your language(s) so we can release as soon as possible! Of course, if you want to add a new language, have any suggestion or remark, please leave a message or discussion on the message board or send me an e-mail personally.

Dear eBuddy Translators,

We are adding more and more languages and eBuddy is becoming available for everyone, everywhere thanks to your efforts!

As you might have noticed, we add new features to the application regularly. This means that new keys (words/sentences) to be translated are added as well. This is the reason why a language that was 100% completed, is reset to for example 94%.

Finally, I would like to ask you to don’t hesitate to “improve” already existing translations whereby you think a “better” translation is possible.

Dear eBuddy Translators,

I noticed that some minor mistakes are regularly made, so hereby I would like to give you some advise:

1) before you start translating your language, please practice on the specially designed Playground It happens often that a Translator’s work is lost after many efforts and that’s just too harsh to live with…

2) Please don’t translate words such as AOL, eBuddy, eBuddy ID, GTalk, MSN, MYSPACE, Yahoo! But leave ‘brand’ names as they are.

3) While translating, please don’t translate the %s in for example: and add %s to my Messenger List All translations you make, are the actual translations that will be placed in the eBuddy applications. Keys such as %s mean that in that place, a user name or status is placed in the actual application so please leave them in your translation.
